Get in our way and we will CRUSH YOU

Block a cyclist with your fancy car, get demolished by a tank. It's really that simple.

Drivers who park in cycle lanes would normally worry about receiving a fine or perhaps having their vehicle towed. They probably do not expect to have their car crushed beneath the wheels of an armoured personnel carrier which has the local mayor at the controls.

But car owners in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, may be choosing their parking spaces a little more carefully after the city's mayor, Arturas Zuokas, drove over – and wrecked – a Mercedes in a stunt to serve as a warning to anyone who thinks about parking illegally.

...

"In the past few days, expensive cars have been illegally parked in almost this exact place – a Rolls Royce and a Ferrari," says the mayor's narration to the video.

"What should the city do about drivers who think that they are above the law? It seems that a tank is the best solution."

We concur, Mayor Zuokas. Roll on, roll on. Our own team of bike porn scientists is currently hard at work in their secret underground laboratories deep beneath the DIY Bike Fest in Scheveningen, The Netherlands, perfecting the design of a pedal-powered bulldozer that will be capable of accomplishing all of this vengeful justice, but with the unmatched power of human muscle motivation. Soon to come to a bike porn film screening in your town?

Until then, the visual satisfaction of Vilnius:

Wheels of Change

Picture this, a person who is sick of jumping through hoops all his/her life being told that "if s/he just works harder things will be better."

That's the line... If you fail it's because you are lazy. You should be able to provide for your family, make things better in your community, raise a more perfect child or in our case, grind on the ideal Brooks saddle. Anything short of that and you loose.

Then one comes to the understanding of the vast differences between the rich and poor and one begins to believe the system is rigged. It is one thing to live with some winners and some losers. It is something else when the disparity between those results is such vast outcomes.

Then it is decided that something must be done.

It happened with a French farmer
It happened with a Tunisian student

It could be that Madison is the Tunisia of North America. Perhaps our people are not as stupid as the media has made us out to be. Maybe this time we will collectively see the writing on the wall.

From our perspective we see a systemic removal our ability to debate ideas. The effect of short attention spans is building a society of mental toddlers. This is more than enough to cause us to throw up our arms in anger. Unless we do something different we are going to continue to get more of the same bullshit treatment.

This is not as simple as most people would have it. If we are to ever get beyond this back and forth of economy vs ecology we have to start understanding how they are related. Its not enough to just say, "stop growing the economy." But we also dont have to wait for someone else to figure it our for us and hand us a cure.

expanded hot pepper coverage

Really the "hot pepper coverage" is just marketing... it's like Ned Flanders said, "this 4-alarm fire is probably only 2 alarm at best". But still there could be a great unspoken outcry for more shots of the boys in blue wearing yellow, and so here is:

Many thoughts come to mind as we gaze intently at this image

Does Portland having less critical mass = less time for cops to ride bikes = more fat cops? Are cops in NYC getting healthier because of their increased presence at Critical Mass? DUDE! COULD NYC BIKE COPS TAKE PDX BIKE COPS?!?

Perhaps the Portland Police Union step up its efforts to get Critical Mass popular again. There are a number of benefits including lots of easy overtime for officers with reduced health care benefits for the system overall.

This couldn't happen at a more important time. Presently our team of bikesexuals are gearing up to ride in what could be North America's best Critical Mass:
  • Best in that it is huge! It has rides in the thousands, which is way more than ride in Portland (at least with their clothes on).
  • Best in that it is full of creativity! This month is pirate themed and the ride will be heading to our final screening of Bikexploitation and a massive pirate party with peepshows and lots of excellent performers.
  • Best in that they have a low # of arrests per rider attending. Fun in the street and fewer body checks than either NYC or PDX.

All this makes us wonder if perhaps Bike Porn Industries could see a new sponsor latter this summer. Hey, Police Union President Sgt. Scott Westerman, take heed, we need more sexy cops! Everyone knows cops and porn go together like...
