Come Again, Memphis

In the South there are bastions of bizarre culture. The Notsuoh's of Houston, most of NOLA and Florida still has its own category of weird.

But in Memphis, TN what we hear the most is, "people just don't give a fuck"

This phrase can be used in a variety of settings, although we frequently hear it when people talk about traffic. Taking a drive in a friend's muscle car at midnight a person all in dark colors was walking at a shallow angle across 6 lanes of traffic without much concern or awareness. I saw him/her and said,

"oh shit, that's probably human!" the driver looked up, took evasive action and we didn't commit vehicular homicide. "Whew! that was close"

"This is Memphis, people just don't give a fuck"

Taking a ride around I came upon a tattoo parlor. They were giving me the deets on the hood and what nearby action I could find.

"So I ride west then south then west. Sounds pretty easy."

"Yeah, the folks at any of those places will treat ya nice but be careful riding around. I mean really; cause they just don't give a fuck."

Well this is your opportunity. You can give all the fucks you want! Just try to keep it consensual. Thankfully we have a great place for creative weirdness!

Tennessee on The Porny Express!

A couple years back we got to play Memphis for the first time. And what a time it was!

Lanky, pasty-white, gimp-styled fetisishist being hauled around on a massive flatbed bike trailer sounds system being whipped by various participants was more than we had expected! Shouts of joy and delight rang out again and again, and the show had not yet even started!

We had so much fun in Memphis we vowed to return. We wondered why Nashville was so difficult. Two years later we are coming back to Memphis but we are doing more than that. For the first time ever we are hitting Nashville AND Knoxville!

So without any further postponement here is the current triad of radical Tennessee venues:

For years Bike Smut has attempted to break into Tennessee's parallelogramic borders. Promises from bike clubs that resulted in "a perfect shitstorm" have prevented us from breaching this elusive state. Was there some sort of sinister plot holding the would be bikesexuals back? Clearly, the city has a rich tradition of welcoming wet travelers, so being from the Pacific NW is no excuse. And tho many would claim that the sport of running cyclists off the road is more popular that cycling itself we are dubious that their trucks are that much larger than the ones in Texas, for example. (NOTE: while our experience of morning rush hour on the freeways outside Houston were absolutely terrifying, most surface streets were pretty relaxed.

But wait no longer, for we have not only a venue, but also a filmmaker in Memphis! Introducing  Corduroy Wednesday. Their new movie, Confessions of a Pedalphile always gets a strong response from the audience. Come and see the hometown heros work!
